Short-Cut Cheese Bread

  • 1 c. cheese soup (undiluted)
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. snipped chives
  • 1 (20 oz.) pkg. white bread mix

Directions

    In a saucepan, combine soup, milk, butter and chives, cooking and stirring until butter melts.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine this mixture and bread mix.

    Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead until smooth (5 to 10 minutes), adding additional flour, if necessary.

    Invert bowl over dough; let rest for 25 minutes. Shape dough into a loaf and place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

    Bake at 225° for 20 minutes.

    Increase oven temperature to 425° and bake for 30 to 35 minutes more.

    Cover pan with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking, if bread browns too quickly.
