Ingredients

  • 1 (No. 303) can whole or sliced beets, drained
  • 1/2 c. reserved beet juice
  • 3/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 small bay leaf (optional)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced (optional)

Directions

    In saucepan, combine all ingredients, except beets.

    Simmer 5 minutes.

    Place hot beet liquid and beets in container with cover. Cool; refrigerate 24 to 36 hours.

    Remove cloves before serving.
