Shrimp Creole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. shrimp
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. green pepper
  • 1/4 c. chopped celery
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 to 1 Creole seasoning (we use Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Magic)
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 16 oz. can tomatoes, chopped (with liquid)
  • 4 oz. tomato sauce

Directions

    Peel and devein shrimp.

    Cook onions, peppers, celery and garlic in butter until tender.

    Blend in flour and seasonings. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce and cook until thick, stirring constantly.

    Add shrimp and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Serve over rice.
