Ingredients

  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 c. cleaned shrimp
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp. salad oil

Directions

    Cook onion, celery and pepper in oil until tender but not brown.

    Add tomato sauce, bay leaves, salt, sugar, chili powder, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce.

    Simmer for about 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup water and stir into sauce.

    Cook and stir until mixture thickens.

    Add shrimp and simmer about 5 minutes.

    Serve over rice or as soup with crackers.
