- 2 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp. rosemary leaves
- 1 tsp. sweet basil
- 1 tsp. leaf thyme
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 10 c. hot water
- 1 lb. crabmeat (optional)
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen cut okra
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. crushed red pepper
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 lb. shrimp, peeled and washed
Directions

1Melt butter in 5 1/2-quart Dutch oven; add flour.

2Mix thoroughly.

3Stir mixture continually until very dark brown, but not scorched.

4Add onions, celery, green pepper, okra and tomatoes.

5Blend all ingredients well.

6Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp and crabmeat.

7Stir thoroughly.

8Cook over medium heat for 25 minutes.

9Add shrimp and crabmeat.

10Cook for 20 minutes more.
