Ingredients
- 1 lb. fresh shrimp, washed and shelled
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. cornstarch
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. m.s.g.
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Beat egg and add water.

3Add to dry ingredients and mix well.

4For the thin lacy batter, remove 1/2 cup batter. Add 2 tablespoons water.

5The remaining portion is the thick dipping batter for shrimp.

6Heat fat to 375°.

7Dip fingers in the thin lacy batter and sprinkle over fat.

8Repeat several times until a lacy network is formed. Dip shrimp in thick batter and place on lacy network when lightly browned. When tempura is golden brown, break network of batter and turn each shrimp.
