- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- dash of salt
- 1 stick butter, cold
- 1 cup buttermilk

1Preheat your oven to 450F.

2Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

3Cut the butter into small cubes and combine with flour with your hands or a pastry blender until the mixture is coarse and crumbly.

4Work quickly to prevent the butter from melting.

5Add the buttermilk and mix until just combined.

6The mixture should be wet.

7Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured board.

8Using your hands, press the dough down to 1 inch thick.

9Use a biscuit cutter to cut into rounds.

10Use flour to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands and the work surface and most importantly, do not overwork the dough.

11Place evenly spaced on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until golden-brown on top.
