Simple Delicious Barley

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pearl barley
  • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
  • 12 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

    Bring broth and water to boil.

    Add barley, reduce heat and cover.
  3. 3
    Note, the lid will rattle and the the barley will make starch bubbles, this is ok.

    Simmer for 45 minutes, until barley is visibly moist but there is no liquid at the bottom of the pan.

    Turn off heat, cover for 1-2 minutes.

    Remove lid and stir in olive oil , cover again for another minute.

    Add cumin and garlic or Mrs Dash.

    a pinch of salt and pepper to taste is good.

    Stir thoroughly.
