- 3 c. self-rising corn meal
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 Tbsp. bacon drippings
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 large eggs
Directions

1Mix all parts together; batter should be medium thick, no lumps.

2If mixture is too thick, add cold water.

3Grease a large cast-iron skillet; place in a 400° oven until smoke appears. Remove skillet; wait 5 minutes.

4Pour mixture into hot skillet; place in oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

5Bread should be served hot with sweet butter.

6Left over cornbread should be saved for later use in cornbread stuffing.

7If Pastor does not give you a double Amen for this bread, you have done something wrong. Amen.
