- 1 c. self-rising cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 c. self-rising flour
Directions

1Combine cornmeal, egg, flour, buttermilk and sugar if desired. Cover bottom of skillet with cooking oil and sprinkle with cornmeal.

2Heat pan in oven, then pour cornbread mixture into hot pan.

3Bake at 450° until brown.

4Serve hot.
