Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cakes yeast
- 1/2 c. milk (lukewarm)
- 6 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pt. scalded and cooled milk
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 lb. soft butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 cup of milk.

2In mixing bowl, sift flour, salt and sugar.

3Add eggs and yeast mixture and butter.

4Knead well until dough is smooth.

5Set aside 2 1/2 hours to rise.

6Turn out on lightly floured board and let rest for 1/2 hour.

7Divide dough into 4 equal parts.

8Roll out 1/2-inch thick.

9Cut into squares; fill with nut, poppy seed, prune or apricot filling.

10Gather up two corners carefully, folding one over the other.

11Pinch together.
-
12Bake at 375° until brown.
