- 4 ounces butter
- 4 ounces light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon golden syrup
- 6 ounces self-rising flour
- 3 ounces smarties candies (2 to 3 tubes )
Directions

1Preheat oven 180 degrees Celsius, gas 4.

2Beat butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.

3Beat in the syrup.

4Work in half the flour.

5Stir in the smarties with the remaining flour.

6Work the dough together with your fingers.

7Divide into 14 balls.

8Place them well apart on a baking sheet; do not flatten.

9Bake for 12 minutes until pale golden at the edges only.

10Cool on a wire rack.

11These will keep for 4 days in a container.
