  • 1 medium head green cabbage
  • 3 carrots, cut diagonally into 1/4-inch slices
  • 3 Tbsp. bacon drippings or as needed
  • 1 medium onion, cut into eighths and separated
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

    Cut the cabbage into quarters and remove the core.

    Cut each quarter in half and then slice into 3/4-inch slices.
