  • 1 c. soft shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour

    Mix first three.

    Sift together dry ingredients and stir in. Chill dough.

    Roll into balls the size of small walnuts.

    Roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

    Place about 2-inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

    Bake in a 400° oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen (2-inch) cookies.
