- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup white sugar (I use a little less)
- 3 eggs or 6 egg yolks
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions

1Scald together milk and sugar.

2Beat eggs until light.

3Gradually whisk a little of the hot milk into eggs.

4When eggs are warm enough that they will not cook when added to the hot milk gradually whisk eggs into the rest of milk.

5Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until custard coats a metal spoon.

6Remove from heat and add vanilla.
