- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. light molasses
- 1 egg, well beaten
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar together, then add molasses and egg and stir.

2Sift flour, soda, salt, cloves, ginger and cinnamon; add to creamed mixture and stir well.

3Shape dough in small round balls; dip in sugar.

4Place 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 350° to 375° for 8 minutes (10 minutes for harder cookies).
