- 1 (1/4 oz.) pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- coarse salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Dissolve yeast in water; add sugar, salt and flour to yeast mixture.

3Mix well until doughy.

4Knead dough several minutes until dry and easy to work with.

5Break off pieces of dough and form into pretzel, animal or alphabet shapes. Place on greased cookie sheets.

6Brush pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt.

7Bake in oven 12 to 15 minutes.
