  • 1/4 c. warm (110~) water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3 to 3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

  • 6 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

  • 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm (110~)

Directions

    Mix the yeast, water, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/3 cup flour in a medium bowl until the mixture forms a thick, gluey paste.

    Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap; set it aside for 1 1/2 hours, or until the mixture is thick and frothy.
