- 3/4 c. margarine, melted
- 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar, divided
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. each: ground cinnamon, ground cloves and ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, combine margarine, 1 cup sugar and molasses.

2Beat in egg until smooth. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; stir into the molasses mixture.

3Spread into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan.

4Sprinkle with remaining sugar.

5Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

6Do not overbake.

7Cool on a wire rack before cutting. Yield:
