- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder (Clabber Girl)
- 2 Tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
- about 1 1/4 c. milk
- oil (for frying)
Directions

1Sift flour; measure and sift again with salt, baking powder and sugar.

2Cut in shortening until the coarseness of meal.

3Add enough milk to form soft dough, but firm enough to roll.

4Cover bowl and let dough stand for 30 to 60 minutes, then roll 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board and cut in diamond-shaped pieces.
