Ingredients
- 4 c. sifted flour
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. scalded milk
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. granulated sugar
- 1 cake compressed yeast or pkg. dry
- 1/4 c. warm water
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water and scalded milk (be sure milk has cooled down before putting into yeast).

4Make well in dry ingredients.

5Add liquid to dry ingredients and work into the dry ingredients.

6Work into dough.

7Knead dough for 15 or 20 minutes.

8Set aside for approximately 10 minutes.

9Roll dough to 1/4-inch thick or less. Cut into squares or triangles and deep fry in melted shortening. If too hot, they will puff and become hollow shortly after adding to fat.

10Drain on paper towel.

11May take a little more flour to knead better.
