- 3 1/2 lb. boneless chuck roast
- 1 1/2 pt. vinegar (white)
- 1 1/2 pt. water
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spices, tied in cheesecloth
- 1 large onion, cut up
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Pour the ingredients over the meat; let come to boil, then cook slowly until meat is tender but not overdone.

2Use heavy pot. Add 1 cup sugar slowly (taste as you add sugar).

3Soak gingersnaps, a little at a time, so they melt using water.

4You will use almost a box of gingersnaps.

5Add to the meat.

6Make as thick as you like, then simmer about an hour, stirring once in a while.

7Take out spices.

8Serve over potato dumplings.
