Sour Cream Date Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 c. finely chopped pitted dates
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon rind
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • pastry for 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell and lattice top

Directions

    Combine sour cream, egg, brown sugar, dates, walnuts, lemon rind and salt.

    Mix well.

    Pour filling into unbaked pie shell. Cover with lattice top and flute edge.

    Bake in hot oven at 425° for 10 minutes and then reduce temperature to slow oven to 325°. Bake until filling is set and crust lightly browned.

    Takes about 30 minutes.

    Serve with sweetened whipped cream.

    Makes one 9-inch pie.
