  • cucumbers, sliced lengthwise
  • brine for 1 gallon
  • 4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. alum
  • 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water to equal 1 gallon

Directions

    Place cucumbers in quart jars packed tightly.

    Add brine, covering cucumbers, leaving air space.

    Let set for 3 weeks. Refrigerate before using.
