- 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in tiny amount of warm water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Put dissolved yeast into buttermilk.

2Sift flour, sugar, baking soda and salt together.

3Add buttermilk and shortening; mix together and beat well.

4Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/2-inch thickness.

5Cut place in baking pan.

6Let raise to desired thickness.

7Bake at 425° for approximately 20 minutes or less (to desired brownness).
