- 1 c. Starter
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 to 4 c. flour
Directions

1Put the Starter in a large mixing bowl.

2Scald milk and add sugar, shortening and salt.

3When cool, add to the starter.

4Place dough in a greased bowl.

5Brush top lightly with melted shortening. Cover with a cloth and let rise until double in bulk, about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

6Punch down; let rise until double.

7Roll into a ball.

8Let rest 10 minutes.

9Shape into a loaf and place in loaf pan.

10Let rise to double in bulk.

11Bake at 400° until brown.
