- 1 envelope dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water (105~)
- 6 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. sourdough starter
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Grease a 10-cup plastic container with a tight fitting lid; set aside.

2Sprinkle yeast over water.

3Set aside to soften 5 minutes.

4In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar.

5Use a pastry blender or two knives and cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside.
