  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 c. milk (add enough to knead dough)

Directions

    Mix all ingredients in large bowl.

    Knead together.

    Add a little more flour if needed, until dough is not sticky.

    Pinch off; shape by hand into biscuits, about 1/2-inch thick.

    Place in greased baking pan.

    Bake at 475° until just starting to turn light brown.
