- 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/3 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2In a medium bowl, mix flours, baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

3With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs.

4With a fork, stir in milk just until mixture forms a soft dough and leaves side of bowl.

5On a lightly floured surface, with floured hands, knead dough 10 times.

6Pat dough into a 5 x 5-inch square.

7Cut into four 2 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch squares.

8Cut each square into 2 triangles. Place triangles, about 1/2-inch apart, on a large cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

9Makes 8 biscuits.
