Southern Cornbread Dressing

  • 8 c. cornbread crumbs
  • 4 c. day old biscuits or loaf bread
  • 5 c. broth (chicken or turkey; more if needed)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 large can mushroom soup

Directions

    Crumble bread crumbs.

    Add broth to soften; add eggs.

    Add more broth as needed.

    Mix in all other ingredients, adding soup last.

    Melt 6 tablespoons butter or margarine and mix in well. Bake in greased pan 40 to 50 minutes at 400°.
