- 2 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2/3 c. milk
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tartar into bowl.

2Add the shortening to the flour mixture to blend together until of cornmeal-like consistency.

3Pour milk into flour mixture slowly.

4Add egg.

5Stir to a stiff dough.

6Knead five times.

7Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.

8Cut with 1 1/2-inch cutter. Bake on an aluminum cookie sheet for 10 to 15 minutes at 450°.
