Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Hillshire sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground meat
  • 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 3/4 gal. can Sam's diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/8 c. Anisette liquor
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 large green pepper, diced
  • 1 c. grated carrot
  • 1 c. grated zucchini (optional)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. sweet basil

Directions

    Brown sausage, set aside and cut into thirds.

    Brown ground meat, onion and green pepper; drain.

    Mix all ingredients and cook over low heat for 2 to 3 hours.

    Drain other fat from top of sauce as it cooks.
