Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped fine
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
  • 4 Tbsp. olive oil (Bertoli recommended)
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 pieces celery (whole)
  • 1/4 c. chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Brown onion and garlic in olive oil.

    Add tomato paste and tomato sauce.

    Cook about five minutes.

    Add water, celery, parsley, sweet basil and salt and pepper to taste.

    Simmer at least 2 hours.

    Remove celery before serving.
