Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. oil (vegetable)
  • 2 lb. very lean ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley, minced
  • 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. oregano
  • 2 Tbsp. thyme
  • 2 Tbsp. basil
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

    Heat oil in a skillet and add meat, garlic and onion and brown.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Cover and simmer about 2 1/2 hours.

    Remove bay leaf before serving.
