Spanish Rice

  • 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. uncooked regular rice
  • 2/3 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

    Cook and stir hamburger and onion until light and brown; drain.

    Stir in remaining ingredients.

    Heat to boiling.

    Reduce heat.

    Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender, about 30 minutes.
