Spanish Rice

  • 3 c. rice (uncooked)
  • garlic salt and pepper
  • 2 (8 oz.) c. tomato sauce
  • oil
  • 4 1/2 c. water
  • 1 pkg. sausage links
  • onion (optional)
  • bell pepper (optional)

Directions

    In oil, fry rice, stirring constantly until rice is brown. Season with garlic salt, pepper, etc.

    Stir-fry the onion and pepper (optional) with rice until flavor is absorbed.

    While rice and ingredients are frying, fry sausage until brown and well done. Mix sausage into rice; add tomato sauce and water.

    Stir rice lightly and cook at medium heat until water is all absorbed from rice and you can see the rice (dry).

    Do not stir rice while water is absorbing or it will become soggy.

    When all water is absorbed, cover rice tightly and simmer for 15 minutes.

    Stir rice from the bottom.

    Simmer 15 minutes more and stir again.

    Take off heat. Serve.
