- 2 c. rice, uncooked
- 2 large green peppers, chopped
- 2 large celery ribs, chopped
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 tsp. cumin seed, crushed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 6 c. water
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Directions

1Heat oil over medium-high heat in a heavy Dutch oven.

2Add rice and next 7 ingredients, and cook, stirring often, until rice is browned.

3Stir in water and tomato sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; cover and cook 25 minutes.
