- 2 (20-inch) loaves French bread
- 1/2 c. chopped or sliced onion
- 1 stick butter
- 3 to 4 Tbsp. mustard
- 2 Tbsp. poppy seed
- 1 lb. sliced Swiss cheese
- 16 slices bacon (optional)
Directions

1Slice bread longways or at 1-inch intervals almost through. Saute onion in butter; add mustard and poppy seed.

2Spoon this mixture into cuts in loaf.

3Insert Swiss slices.

4Arrange bacon on top of loaf.

5May be wrapped in foil and frozen at this point. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes (30 minutes if frozen) until cheese melts and bacon is crisp.
