  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 3 c. plain flour

    In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter.

    Add eggs; beat well.

    Combine dry ingredients.

    Add to creamed mixture, alternately with buttermilk.

    Mix well.

    Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.

    Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until the cake tests done.

    Cool.
