  • 1/3 lb. ground beef (about 1 c., lightly packed)
  • 1 c. canned or cooked tomatoes
  • 1/4 c. uncooked rice
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 c. cooked split peas

    Put ground beef in a pan.

    Cook over medium heat until meat is browned.

    Drain off fat.

    Add tomatoes, rice, water, salt and pepper.

    Cover and boil gently for about 25 minutes, until rice is tender.
