- 1/3 lb. ground beef (about 1 c., lightly packed)
- 1 c. canned or cooked tomatoes
- 1/4 c. uncooked rice
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- pepper to taste
- 1 c. cooked split peas
Directions

1Put ground beef in a pan.

2Cook over medium heat until meat is browned.

3Drain off fat.

4Add tomatoes, rice, water, salt and pepper.

5Cover and boil gently for about 25 minutes, until rice is tender.

6Add split peas.

7Heat slowly until hot.

8Makes 2 servings, about 1 cup each.
