  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. very warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. scalded milk
  • 1/3 c. cold water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in very warm water.

    Combine sugar, shortening, salt and scalded milk.

    Cool to lukewarm by adding cold water. Blend in yeast mixture, egg and flour.

    Mix well.

    Grease top of dough and sides of bowl.

    Cover.

    Rise for 1 hour until double. Stir down.

    Spoon into well-greased muffin pans, 1/2 full.

    Cover. Let rise 45 minutes.

    Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.
