Squash Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. squash, sliced (3 1/2 c.)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. oleo, melted
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs or Pepperidge Farm mix
  • 1 c. grated cheese
  • 1 (8 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts (optional)

Directions

    Cook squash, onion and salt in water until well done; drain. Add egg and butter.

    Add water chestnuts.

    Put in greased casserole in layers; make layer of squash mixture, layer of bread crumbs or stuffing and layer of cheese.

    Bake at 350° until hot throughout and bubbly.

    Makes 4 servings.
