- 2 c. squash
- 1 medium onion
- 1 c. self-rising corn meal
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. cheese (optional)
Directions

1Boil the squash and onion in water until tender; drain.

2Next add the cornmeal and egg.

3Continue stirring and add the milk and cheese, if you prefer.

4Drop the patties into hot grease, preferably in an iron skillet.

5Cook just the same as you would any other type of patty.

6Cook on low or medium.

7Brown and drain on a paper towel.
