Squash With Green Chilies

- 6 to 8 sliced medium yellow squash
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 Tbsp. cooking oil or margarine
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. chopped canned green chilies or 1 small pod cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 c. grated American cheese
Directions

1Saute squash and onion in oil or margarine until tender.

2Add milk, chilies, salt and pepper.

3Cover and cook 15 minutes over low heat.

4Remove from heat and add American cheese.

5Cover and let stand several minutes off hot burner until cheese melts. (Slide off hot burner to let stand.) Serves 6.
