Squash With Green Chilies

  • 6 to 8 sliced medium yellow squash
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 Tbsp. cooking oil or margarine
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. chopped canned green chilies or 1 small pod cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 c. grated American cheese

Directions

    Saute squash and onion in oil or margarine until tender.

    Add milk, chilies, salt and pepper.

    Cover and cook 15 minutes over low heat.

    Remove from heat and add American cheese.
  5. 5
    Cover and let stand several minutes off hot burner until cheese melts. (Slide off hot burner to let stand.) Serves 6.
