Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak, cubed
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • dash of ginger and allspice
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. sliced onions
  • 2 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1/2 tsp. Bovril in hot water (for flavor)
  • 2 c. diced potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce (if desired)

Directions

    Roll meat in flour, salt, pepper and all spices.

    Brown the meat; add onions and cook until light.

    Add the potatoes and brown and stir.

    Add hot water and simmer until near tender.

    Turn into casserole.

    Cover with pie crust.

    Brush with beaten egg.

    Bake in a 400° to 425° oven for 25 minutes.
