- 1 cup jasmine or basmati rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions

1Wash rice in several changes of cold water in a bowl until water is clear, then drain in a sieve.

2Combine with water and salt in a 1 1/2- to 2-quart saucepan.

3Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook, covered, until rice is tender and water is absorbed, 10 to 12 minutes.

4Remove from heat and let stand, covered, 5 minutes.

5Fluff with a fork.
