Steamed Pumpkin Pudding

  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. each: salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. soured milk
  • 1/2 c. cooked or canned pumpkin

    Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting.

    Blend flour, baking powder, salt, soda and spices.

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs; beat well.

    Add flour mixture alternately with sour milk and pumpkin.

    Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart mold.

    Steam 1 3/4 hours.

    Cool a few minutes; loosen from sides of mold. Remove from mold.
