  • 1 1/2 lb. cling or freestone peaches
  • 1/2 c. (about) sugar

    Pare and quarter peaches and remove stones.

    Add a small amount of cold water (about 1/2 cup).

    Cover and heat slowly. Simmer until peaches are soft, 5 to 15 minutes.

    Stir sugar into hot peaches.

    Chill and serve.
