  • 6 large tomatoes or 2 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 3/4 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. basil or parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs

Directions

    Place tomatoes and spices in a heavy saucepan over low heat and cook 20 minutes if using fresh tomatoes (only 10 minutes for canned tomatoes).

    Bread crumbs may be added if a thicker stew is desired.
