Strawberry-Apple Jam

Ingredients
- 3 Granny Smith apples
- 1 qt. strawberries, hulled and halved
- 3 cups water
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 lb. sugar
Directions

1Peel the apples and remove cores.

2Cut into quarters and then into thin slices.

3Place in preserving pan with strawberries, water and lemon juice.

4Bring slowly to the boil and then simmer for 20 minutes.

5Warm sugar in the oven before adding to the strawberry mixture.

6Increase heat and stir gently to dissolve the sugar.

7Continue to boil until setting point is reached.

8To test, spoon a little jam into a saucer and leave to cool in the freezer.

9If a skin has formed and the mixture crinkles when pushed from the side with your finger, the jam is ready.

10Remove from the heat and spoon into sterilized jars.

11Place lid on jar when each one is filled and invert for 5 minutes before turning upright.

12When cool, label and store in a cool, dark, dry place.
